The Lamborghini Temerario: Not Just Fast, but Electrifying Performance Personified
Eric Tingwall, William Walker | February 03, 2026
Step aside, exotics. The Lamborghini Temerario has officially claimed the title of the fastest internal combustion vehicle ever tested by MotorTrend. This “entry-level” supercar from Lamborghini, producing a staggering 907 horsepower, blazed through the quarter mile in an electrifying 9.58 seconds, crossing the line at 148.5 mph. It edged out the 2021 Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano by a mere 0.03 second in a head-to-head confrontation that redefined what’s possible on the strip.
Of course, electric vehicles are in a league of their own when it comes to straight-line speed. The Tesla Model S Plaid, the Lucid Air Sapphire, and various iterations of the Porsche Taycan Turbo have all posted quicker times in MotorTrend’s rigorous testing regimen. However, none of these silent speedsters can replicate the sheer visceral drama and emotional punch delivered by the Lamborghini Temerario. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain is a symphony of controlled chaos, blending the instantaneous low-end torque of three electric motors with the ferocious, sustained top-end pull of a twin-turbo, flat-plane-crank 4.0-liter V-8. This combination creates a wild, exhilarating thrill ride that only a Lamborghini can deliver.
Lamborghini has always been a master of supercar theater, and the Temerario is no exception. For the absolute quickest performance, the driver must dial in Corsa handling mode and Performance powertrain mode using the steering-wheel-mounted knobs. Then, a small checkered-flag button activates launch control. Standing on both pedals, the engine screams to 4,000 rpm before launching the car forward with controlled fury. All four Bridgestone Potenza Race tires howl off the line, the V-8 winds up to 10,250 rpm, and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission delivers a brutally efficient upshift into second. The tires chirp again, and the whole process repeats with savage precision.
How Quick is the Lamborghini Temerario? An Engine-Powered Record-Breaker
You don’t reach a 9.6-second quarter mile by tiptoeing off the line. The Lamborghini Temerario punches out a stunning 0-60 mph in just 2.2 seconds. While this is incredibly fast, it’s not enough to hold the top spot among gas-powered vehicles. The Lambo currently sits in third place on our all-time records for vehicles with combustion engines, trailing the Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano and the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S. However, the lead isn’t far off. It takes just 4.6 seconds to hit 100 mph, at which point the Lamborghini is already ahead of the Ferrari and Porsche in this neck-and-neck race to speed.
The Weight of Electricity: Plug-In Hybrid Power and Braking Distances
When it comes time to shed speed, the standard carbon-ceramic brakes bring the Temerario to a halt from 60 mph in 96 feet. While this is respectable, it’s not nearly as spectacular as its acceleration figures. The plug-in hybrid powertrain is likely the culprit, as it adds significant weight. Even with the $84,100 Alleggerita package, which shaves off 55 pounds, the car still weighs in at a portly 4,185 pounds. However, as with the acceleration times, cranking up the velocity puts the Lambo in the best possible light. Stopping from 100 mph in 266 feet, the Temerario finds itself tied for 12th place on our list of thousands of vehicles tested.
Taking the Corners: Handling Performance and Driving Dynamics
The figure-eight course is the ultimate test of a car’s performance, combining cornering, braking, and acceleration into a single lap that reveals so much about its dynamics, both objectively and subjectively. Pushed to its limits, the Temerario grips the pavement with 1.14 g of force on its way to a 22.3-second lap. This places it 0.7 second behind our record holder, which is actually three vehicles tied for first: the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, the 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring, and the 2022 McLaren 765LT Spider.
The starter Lambo’s lap matches times set by the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder, the 2025 Lucid Air Sapphire, and two lighter predecessors, the 2020 Huracán Evo AWD (3,645 pounds) and the 2021 Huracán STO (3,390 pounds).
We like to frame the figure-eight result with a second number—the average g-force experienced throughout the lap due to acceleration, braking, and cornering. The Temerario’s 1.05 g means that for the entire lap, you are either being pushed from behind, pressed into your seatbelt, or pinned against the bolster with more force than gravity exerts on your body on this planet.
A Driving Experience That Can’t Be Quantified
As impressive as the Temerario’s performance numbers are, arguably the biggest takeaway from running it through our testing gauntlet is that Lamborghini hasn’t sacrificed an exhilarating driving experience in the relentless pursuit of numbers. Its Corsa mode keeps everything in line for focused, fast laps, but the Lambo truly shines in Sport mode, offering playful yet easily controlled rotation. And if that’s not wild enough, the three-stage Drift mode is your ticket to big, controlled slides.
The Lamborghini Temerario is a cocktail of caffeine, adrenaline, and pure testosterone injected directly into your system. It’s a machine that makes you feel alive, a beast that begs to be unleashed on the open road. We’ll have much more to say about this thrilling addition to the Lamborghini lineup in a full road test coming soon.
