The Concours at Wynn Las Vegas: A Supercar Showdown for the Ages For decades, the world of elite automotive gatherings has been dominated by established institutions like Pebble Beach and The Quail. These events attract the highest echelons of collectors, enthusiasts, and manufacturers, each vying for attention and prestige. However, a new contender has emerged from the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, one that is rapidly redefining what a supercar exhibition should be. The 2025 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas is not just another car show; it is a seismic shift in the automotive landscape, a bold challenge to the old guard that is proving impossible to ignore. The Birth of a New Icon
For those steeped in the traditions of concours d’elegance, the question inevitably arises: Which event truly stands above the rest? While the Monterey Car Week, anchored by the Pebble Beach Concours, remains the gold standard for classic car enthusiasts, it has long been debated whether it still holds the top spot for the modern supercar aficionado. The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering has carved out a significant niche as the go-to venue for high-end, modern performance machines. It has become the de facto replacement for the Geneva International Auto Show, which has faded from the international stage. The Quail has consistently served as a stunning appetizer to the Pebble Beach proceedings. It draws crowds of discerning collectors who prioritize the latest and greatest in hypercar technology over vintage chrome and mahogany. Indeed, the rise of The Quail as a premier event for modern supercars has been undeniable. It has hosted the North American debuts of legendary machines like the Lamborghini Temerario and the Bugatti Chiron Divo, cementing its status as a crucial platform for manufacturers to showcase their most ambitious creations. However, this year’s 2025 Las Vegas Concours has thrown a curveball into the equation. Having attended the 2024 event, I must admit that it felt rather provincial. The cars were nice, but it was the usual suspects. I almost didn’t attend the 2025 Concours, primarily because I was on assignment for Czinger, a manufacturer I was working with. But I am incredibly glad that I made the trip to Vegas. The 2025 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas is not just a show; it is a statement. It is a declaration that the automotive world has evolved, and the new centers of gravity are shifting. The Wynn event has positioned itself not just as a competitor but as a legitimate threat to the established order, offering an experience that is both overwhelming in scale and astonishing in depth. A Spectacle of Epic Proportions The sheer magnitude of the 2025 Concours is staggering. From the moment you step onto the lawn, you are confronted with an automotive landscape that defies belief. Take, for example, the Bugatti section. There were no fewer than 48 Bugatti Veyrons on display. Consider this: the total production of the Veyron was only 450 units, and approximately 100 of those were sold in North America. Having nearly half of the entire North American supply of Veyrons in one place is an astonishing feat in itself. But the Bugatti display did not stop there. Bugatti also brought a stunning white Vitesse Super Sport to commemorate the Veyron’s 20th anniversary, along with a Bolide, Centodieci, Chiron Super Sport, Divo, Mistral, and a prototype of the upcoming Tourbillon, the V16 hybrid that will succeed the Chiron. To have 48 Veyrons and a suite of Bugatti’s most iconic models in one place is a testament to the organizers’ pull. The Pagani presence was equally mind-blowing. While I didn’t get an exact count, there were over 40 Paganis on the grounds. The gathering included several Zondas, including a rare Zonda Revolution (one of only five ever made), dozens of Huayras, a host of Utopias, and, significantly for The Quail, the debut of the Huayra Codalunga Speedster that Pagani plans to produce in a limited run of 10 cars at $7 million each before taxes and tariffs. Even if you are not a fan of these carbon-titanium extroverts, the fact that the 2025 Las Vegas Concours hosted the largest Pagani gathering ever in North America—and that Horatio Pagani, who was honored onstage by emcee Justin Bell for his contributions to automotive design, chose this venue to debut a new car—is incredibly telling. To have more than 40 Pagani models in one location is remarkable, considering the manufacturer produces fewer than 40 cars in an entire year. For those with a passion for Italian horsepower, the Lamborghini display was a revelation. The 2025 Wynn Vegas Concours was the largest gathering of Lamborghinis ever assembled. Again, I didn’t count them all, but estimates placed the number at around 230. This accounted for nearly 40 percent of the 600 cars present on Saturday. This incredible display included a Veneno Coupe (one of only three public-sale examples, as Lamborghini kept one), a Sesto Elemento (one of ten), a Centenario Coupe and Convertible (one of 20 each), and a Reventón (one of 21). The last time I witnessed all these limited-edition “few-offs” together was at the Lamborghini museum. It was an overwhelming showcase of high-performance Italian exotics.
In the interest of brevity, I must omit mention of several other incredible exhibits. These include the Koenigseggs, the Gumpert Apollo, the Czingers, the Nilu, the McLaren Project Endurance race car debut, the judged cars (including a former Pebble Beach Concours winner, a 1929 Mercedes-Benz 680 S Barker Tourer, which won Best in Show for prewar cars at this event as well), the HWA EVO, a Mercedes-AMG One, two Oldsmobile Aerotechs, and a McLaren F1. That’s one hell of a car show. The Road Ahead: A Changing Landscape As I mingled with fellow attendees at the Concours, two threads of conversation dominated the discussions. The first and most obvious question was, “How in the world are they going to top this next year?” No one has the answer, but I wish the Wynn the very best of luck. The second question, and frankly the more intriguing one, came from the OEMs themselves: “Should we even bother showing up at The Quail next year?” This is a valid question, and perhaps it is time to say good luck to The Quail as well. For those unfamiliar with the costs involved, a single ticket to The Quail last year cost $1,300 for legacy ticket holders and $1,600 for first-time attendees. While these prices are steep, they reflect the costs faced by manufacturers, who spend approximately $400,000 to secure a booth at The Quail for just six hours. In contrast, the Las Vegas Concours charges roughly one-twentieth of that amount. Attendee tickets are priced at $100 each, which translates to about $2 per Veyron displayed. I spoke with three different car manufacturers who openly questioned the need to ever return to The Quail. They mused whether Las Vegas and Moda Miami would be sufficient in the future. Furthermore, attendees will not face the astronomical hotel prices found in Monterey—one friend told me he had to stay in a motel near Pebble that cost $1,100 per night with a five-night minimum stay. Not to mention the soul-crushing traffic and the difficulty in making dinner reservations in the Monterey area. Vegas, on the other hand, is literally built to handle large gatherings, making dining and transportation simple. While this might sound far-fetched, consider that only a few years ago, the Geneva International Auto Show was the epicenter of the supercar world. I cannot predict the future, but I can assure you that the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas is now at the top of my must-attend list. You should add it to yours, too. The era of traditional automotive shows is being challenged by a new generation of events that cater to the modern supercar collector. And the 2025 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas is leading the way.
